2001 Spring Cleaning Tips
Springtime is here! With the sunshine, warm breeze and fresh flowers, comes time for a new start. Here are some spring-cleaning tips to help your home welcome
in the new season.
The Kitchen
- To clean your kitchen counter, try club soda on a clean cloth, then rinse with water and wipe dry.
- To remove spots from a stainless steel sink use rubbing alcohol or vinegar on a dampened cloth.
- Add vinegar to your dishwasher detergent to get the grease off.
- Get rid of fridge odor by pouring vanilla on a piece of cotton and place it in the fridge.
Carpets
- To take out a stain, always use a white cloth.
- For grease stains, sprinkle the stain with baking soda, talcum powder, cornstarch, or cornmeal, leave for six to eight hours, then vacuum.
Windows
- Wash your windows on a cloudy day - sunlight can cause streaks.
- Use old newspapers to shine your windows.
- To get the grub off your windowsills, pour rubbing alcohol on a cloth and rub the surface, then dust with a clean cloth.
Floors
- Pencil eraser will remove most shoe scuffs.
- Placing wax paper under your mop or duster will shine your wood floors.
Bathroom
- Try rubbing alcohol to clean bathroom mirrors.
- Before cleaning your shower, run hot water for five minutes, to clean away the dirt.
- Use vinegar or lemon oil to clean your shower doors.
Before you begin cleaning:
- Get the right tools and supplies to work with.
- Have the right cleaning products you are going to need.
- Map out your 'plan of action' for cleaning.
- Vacuum and dust before you start washing.
- Get rid of unwanted items you've collected since last spring.
