Summertime…..and the selling is easy!

Are you thinking about waiting until after the summer holidays to put your home on the market? Think again. It may not be the busiest time of year for sales, but in many ways the summer holiday season can be a great time to get the best value for your home. Here’s why:

  • Summer holiday season buyers are serious buyers. Casual browsers and ‘looky-loos’ are busy with summer activities, so those looking are usually serious.
  • Your home looks its best. In the summer months, most homes are at their best – with gardens abloom amidst a backdrop of sparkling blue skies. Your home will feels warm and inviting. From the outside, planters spilling over with perennials have a way of making even the most ordinary house look magical. Indoors, freshly cut flowers from your garden create a wonderfully enticing feeling that sparks buyers' imaginations.

  • Summer scents help sell. Seller's guides say that the most appealing scents for homebuyers include vanilla and cinnamon. During the summer, your home may be naturally filled with these smells – from pies, fruit crisps and cobblers – all of which create a very appealing environment for buyers.

  • Buyers have more time. Most people take a week or more off work during the holidays. For serious buyers, that means plenty of time to focus on finding the right home, making a decision and closing the deal. Some buyers even prefer to look around the holidays in order to avoid the rush during spring and fall "peak" periods. For couples, it may be the only time of year when they can both take a week off together and focus on house-hunting.

  • Your REALTOR® will do the work. Some buyers wonder whether they'll get enough attention from their REALTOR® during the holidays. The fact is, REALTORS® are used to working hard during all holidays. It's just part of the job. Yes, you'll be busy with barbecues and picnics and enjoying the great outdoors – that's why you have a Realtor! He or she will be there to help you sell your home and make sure that showings don't clash with your holiday schedule.
