Vancouver REALTORS® Join Provincial Education Program

VANCOUVER, BC: -- Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver members voted overwhelmingly in favour of implementing a mandatory Professional Development Program (PDP) today, joining British Columbia's eleven other real estate boards to form a provincewide system of required education for the province's 15,000 REALTORS®.

"This is great news for Vancouver REALTORS® and even better news for our clients," said Rick Valouche, president of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. "By ensuring that REALTORS® have the latest knowledge, tools and skills they require to serve the public, we are making a commitment to buyers and sellers throughout the Lower Mainland. Whether they are buying a home in the West End or a home in Delta, they can be confident that they'll receive the same outstanding service and expertise that the public has come to expect from British Columbia's REALTORS®."

The program was developed jointly with all 12 of British Columbia's real estate boards. It requires REALTORS® to accumulate 18 professional development credits over a two-year program cycle. Each member will be given two years to earn their credits following their first license renewal date retroactive to January 1, 2006.

"There is a reason why 2005 was the biggest year on record for real estate in Greater Vancouver. Our REALTORS® are highly skilled professionals and are some of the hardest working REALTORS® in Canada," said Georges Pahud, Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver past president. "If you are thinking of buying or selling in the near future, use a REALTOR®. They know how to get the best value for your dollar."
